“While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said [to the church at Antioch], “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” (Acts 13:2-3)
Church-based sending is as old as the book of Acts…even older. Even while on the earth, Jesus, the Chief Cornerstone of the church, had already begun sending the disciples ahead of him to every town and place he was going to go. The empowerment of Pentecost unleashed a wave of evangelistic power out of which the new church was birthed. The church has continued to carry the light of the Gospel into the darkest corners of the world.
